We currently offer two fully remote programs:
1. IT Support
Our IT Support program runs for six months and prepares you for the CompTIA A+ certification, the industry-standard credential for entry-level IT roles. This certification shows employers that you can troubleshoot technical issues, set up and maintain hardware, and manage software, networks, and operating systems.
You’ll also have the opportunity to earn the Google IT Support Professional Certificate, another widely recognized credential that strengthens your resume for tech roles.
Throughout the program, you’ll work through hands-on projects that mirror real-world scenarios, so you’ll graduate ready to handle the kinds of challenges you’ll actually face on the job.
Climb Hire alumni often go on to roles such as:
- IT support specialist: Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting for employees or customers using computer systems, networks, and software.
- Desktop support technician: Installs, maintains, and repairs computers and other workplace technology for employees.
- Network support tech: Helps monitor and maintain an organization’s network systems to keep them secure and running smoothly.
In the state of California, starting salaries for these positions range between $52k and $70k per year (Glassdoor), with plenty of opportunities for career growth into more advanced roles, such as a cybersecurity specialist or systems administrator.
2. Paid Search Marketing
Our Paid Search Marketing program focuses on one of the most in-demand areas of digital marketing: managing paid advertising campaigns on platforms like Google Ads and Meta Ads.
Over the four-month course, you’ll learn how to set up, manage, and optimize ad campaigns that drive traffic and sales for businesses. You’ll also earn three key certifications employers in the industry look for:
- Google Ads Search Certification
- Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate
- HubSpot Inbound Marketing Optimization Certification
These credentials can open doors to entry-level roles such as digital marketing coordinator, paid media assistant, or Google Ads specialist—positions that typically start at around $51k per year (Glassdoor).

10 additional California unemployment training options
If Climb Hire isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, there are plenty of vocational training programs in California that can help you gain new skills and get back to work faster. Below is a list of options across a variety of industries in the labor market—from healthcare and skilled trades to tech and beauty—offering everything from short-term certifications to hands-on apprenticeships.
Some of these programs are also listed on California’s Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL), which means they qualify under the California Training Benefits (CTB) program. If you’re approved for CTB, you may be able to attend one of those programs without having to look for suitable work actively while you train.
It’s worth noting that ETPL-approved courses can be pretty expensive, with some costing up to tens of thousands of dollars in tuition.
1. High Road Training Partnerships
The High Road Training Partnerships program is a statewide initiative funded by the California Workforce Development Board. Training services are free and are offered through partnerships with employers in industries like clean energy, healthcare, and transportation. Each program is developed to help you gain the practical skills that lead directly to high-demand jobs in the state.
Training is available in both in-person and hybrid formats. It’s not part of California’s ETPL, but for anyone unemployed and looking to start a new career, it’s a free alternative to some of the more expensive programs on that list.
2. 160 Driving Academy
The 160 Driving Academy is a workforce training program that prepares you to earn your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and start a career in the transportation industry. The course runs for about four weeks and includes both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel experience. You’ll learn the essential job skills in vehicle safety, inspection, and maneuvering.
The program prepares you for both local and long-distance trucking positions and is offered at multiple locations across California, including Anaheim, Sacramento, Stockton, and Bakersfield. Tuition varies slightly by location but averages around $5k. It’s listed on California’s ETPL.
3. ABC NorCal apprenticeships
ABC NorCal (Associated Builders and Contractors Northern California Chapter) offers free, hands-on apprenticeship programs for people interested in construction and related trades. Training combines classroom instruction with paid, on-the-job experience in areas like carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work—so you earn while you learn.
Programs are based in Livermore and run for several years, depending on the trade. Graduates earn industry-recognized certifications and can move directly into journeyman roles with strong earning potential. This program is listed on California’s ETPL.
4. Path to Pro
Path to Pro is a free, remote training initiative from The Home Depot Foundation that provides the foundational training needed for construction and trade careers. The courses are virtual, self-paced, and available to anyone in the US—including unemployed California residents.
Training covers a wide range of skilled trades, including electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, welding, landscaping, and property management. Job seekers gain access to expert mentors, real-world simulations, and career support resources. The program also covers certification exam fees. It’s not listed on California’s ETPL.
5. AAA Institute
The AAA Institute offers a wide range of career training programs across El Monte, Torrance, and Van Nuys. Courses cover fields such as software programming, digital design, business administration, and healthcare, with specific options including Clinical Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy, Adobe Premiere Pro, and SQL Programming.
Programs typically last between 8 and 12 weeks and are available both in-person and online. Tuition ranges from about $4k to $15k, depending on the program. Some AAA Institute programs are listed on California’s ETPL.
6. North Orange County Regional Occupational Program
The North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (NOCROP) provides career education for adults, preparing you to enter the workforce with hands-on experience. Courses combine classroom learning with practical training in local businesses, clinics, and offices. Students also have the opportunity to earn certifications and state licensures aligned with current job market demands.
Programs are offered in person at the Career Training Center in Anaheim, California, with additional opportunities across northern Orange County. Varied career pathways are offered in healthcare, IT, and automotive fields. Course lengths and costs vary, typically ranging from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the program. Many NOCROP programs are listed on California’s ETPL.
7. Code Tenderloin
Code Tenderloin is a nonprofit organization in downtown San Francisco that provides free tech training and job readiness programs for underserved communities. Its courses cover a range of in-demand skills, including coding, data analytics, and AI automation.
Beyond technical skills, Code Tenderloin also emphasizes professional development—offering training and job services in soft skills, resume preparation, and interview practice. Programs are available in-person and hybrid, and typically run for 8–12 weeks. It is not listed on California’s ETPL.
8. Salon Success Academy
The Salon Success Academy offers hands-on cosmetology and esthetics training designed to prepare students for careers in salons, spas, and the broader beauty industry. The program combines classroom instruction with real-world practice in hairstyling, coloring, skincare, and nail care.
Programs are offered in person at several Southern California locations, including Riverside, Redlands, and Upland. Programs are taught by industry-experienced instructors and focus on both technical knowledge and workplace readiness. They vary in length, and tuition typically ranges from $3k to $8k, depending on the program. The Learnet Academy is listed on California’s ETPL.
10. JobTrain
Based in Silicon Valley, JobTrain is a nonprofit organization that provides free career training for Bay Area adults looking to build long-term careers. Programs are available in IT, healthcare, culinary arts, carpentry, and building maintenance/HVAC. Classes combine hands-on learning, externships, and job placement support.
Most programs run full-time for roughly 11 weeks. You’ll receive both classroom instruction and practical experience to prepare for employment right after graduation. Each student is paired with a Job Developer, who provides resume coaching, interview practice, and job leads tailored to their skills. The programs are not listed on California’s ETPL.
